ASSOCIATE PASTOR

Wayne joined the team at Whitby Christian in 2002. Prior to that, he spent 20 years as a pastor and church planter in French Canada. As Associate Pastor, he oversees Small Groups, Communications, assists in direction and providing team support. When he's not working Wayne enjoys long walks, podcasts, concerts, and spending time with his wife Zena, their two children, and four grandchildren.

YOUTH PASTOR

Jay has been a part of Whitby Christian since 2009.  He currently serves as Youth Pastor. Jay's mission is to help young people discover their unique purpose in Christ and to build a vibrant community dedicated to boldly following in Jesus' example. Known for his corny jokes, enthusiasm, and love for learning new languages - he connects with students in a relatable and impactful way.

CHILDREN’S PASTOR

After having served in both the East and West areas of the GTA, Sarah and her husband Jensen are excited to see young ones encounter the power and presence of God's Spirit, and to come alongside and help families plant deep roots in Christ. They have a daughter, River, and a son, Shepherd, who keep them busy in finding new places to eat, the outdoors, and with creative pursuits.

YOUNG ADULT & OUTREACH PASTOR

Genevieve grew up in Newfoundland and moved to Ontario in 2009. Before joining the Children’s Ministry team at Whitby Christian in 2023, she served churches in the GTA as a Children's Pastor, and as a Youth & Young Adults Pastor. Genevieve is passionate about nurturing the next generation's faith and enjoys traveling, photography, and time with her dog, Callie.

PASTORAL CARE

Donovan has been a part of Whitby Christian since 1986. Prior to joining the staff as Director of Care Ministries, he was an elementary school principal. One of his main areas of focus continues to be ministering to seniors and shut-ins to help them remain connected to the church. In his spare time, Donovan enjoys watching sporting events on television and in person. In addition, he loves making lasting memories with his wife, Ernestine, as they travel to different destinations around the world.

ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Pia joined our team in 2022 and serves as our Accounting Manager.  She brings a strong background in Business Administration and Accounting, with prior experience in the financial and logistics sectors. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, deepening her understanding of the scriptures, and savoring a good cup of coffee, a pastime that complements her busy schedule.

PRODUCTION MANAGER

Hugo oversees the audio/video requirements for Whitby Christian, which includes live streaming, editing promos, sermon bumpers, live directing and producing. Before joining our team in 2023, Hugo worked 45 years in television broadcasting for CTV, TSN, Sportsnet and numerous international networks. Hugo and his wife Rebecca, of 38 years, have 2 children and 5 grandchildren.

CUSTODIAL TEAM

Brian started at Whitby Christian in 2016. He leads our building team getting the building ready for Sunday services, midweek programs and events. He also does maintenance including painting and repairs. Outside of work he is a leader in our youth group and loves to and loves seeing them grow in their faith. He also enjoys playing sports including basketball and volleyball as well as traveling.

BUILDING OPERATIONS

Joel joined the team in 2024 after retiring from a 37-year career in law enforcement and a part time position as Professor at Centennial College.  He serves as a Small Group leader and volunteers with our Missions team.  Joel also enjoys carpentry, playing guitar and spending time at his family trailer.  He has been married for 32 years and loves watching his 3 children grow into amazing people.
